About
Heremin turns your Apple Watch into a theremin, the electronic instrument you play without touching it. The sound comes from the Watch speaker; your arm is the instrument. HOW TO PLAY • Raise your forearm for higher notes: three octaves, gliding smoothly from one note to the next like a real theremin. • Roll your wrist to set the volume: screen up is full, turned sideways is silent. • Swing your arm sideways to shape the sound: straight ahead is a bright sawtooth, to the right it becomes square, to the left a pure sine. • Turn the Digital Crown to set the Watch volume. • Prefer another layout? In Movements, assign up/down, sideways and wrist roll to pitch, volume or waveform, or to nothing. • Set the waveform with a knob in the menu, like on a real theremin, and keep your arm free for pitch and volume. WATCH + IPHONE With an iPhone that has Ultra Wideband, the iPhone becomes the antenna: lay it on a table and move your wrist toward it. The closer you get, the higher the note, measured to the centimetre. DETAILS • Works on its own on Apple Watch; the iPhone is only needed for Watch + iPhone mode. • Watch + iPhone mode needs Apple Watch Series 6 or later (not SE) and iPhone 11 or later. • Everything happens on your devices. No account, no ads, no tracking.
On the Watch, in short
Does Heremin work without an iPhone?
Partly. Some features work on the Watch alone; others need the iPhone nearby.
Does Heremin have Apple Watch complications?
Not that we list. It works as an app you open on the Watch.
